Book Presentation: Don Roberto: The Adventure of Being Cunninghame Graham
In Argentina in the 1870s, RB Cunninghame Graham (1852-1936) rode with gauchos and later chronicled their way of life. As an MP in London he declared himself a socialist and was jailed for rioting. In Scotland he co-founded the Scottish Labour Party, forerunner of the modern Labour party, and later became founding president of the Scottish National Party. Celebrated writer, horseman, traveller, adventurer, visionary, fighter for social justice, humanitarian … who really was he?
About the author:
James Jauncey is Don Roberto’s great-great-nephew and author of a major new biography. In this illustrated talk he brings a fresh perspective to the life of his extraordinary ancestor, and reflects on what it means to have an almost mythical figure in recent family history.
James will be selling copies of his book on the night, with a 20% discount (RRP £24.99) at £20.00. Cash/card payments accepted.
