Dear members and friends,

Many of you have started to receive reminders for your subscriptions, which are sent automatically.

Many thanks for renewing your membership and your continued support of your charity, The Anglo-Argentine Society.

As you may know, with sadness we had to postpone the Ambassador’s Gala Dinner, organised in collaboration with APARU, due to train strike actions planned for 12-13 May, which would have affected the very fundraising purpose of the event.

All funds have been reimbursed.

The new date is 29 September, at the same place, The Caledonian Club.

To accommodate the Gala, though, we had to cancel the 75th anniversary drinks at the Ambassador’s Residence planned for 22 September.

TICKETS will be available closer to the date.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Gala in September to raise a glass to the AAS 75th anniversary and raise funds for our designated charities in Argentina: Enseñá X Argentina and Asociación Cuerpo y Alma.

Many thanks to all sponsors and donors who contributed generously to the Gala:

Viñals Wine & Food, Flaneur Academy, Embassy of Argentina, Baroness Hooper, Catharine Miller Art, El Enemigo Wines, Wine & Polo, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Ham Polo Club, Ice Cream Union, Tango Academy, Julieta Iglesias, Sur Chocolates, other anonymous donors.

THEATRE:

Did you know you can see theatre in Spanish in London?

We have a very good relationship with Cervantes Theatre, who often send PROMOCODES for discounts to see their fantastic plays in Spanish, or Spanish and English, at their venue in London near Southwark tube station. All our members can benefit.

The next play for one night only is José Luis Alonso de Santos’ La Sombra del Tenorio, on May 26, directed by José Luis Chavarría, with Chete Guzmán.

PROMOCODE: Lasombradel15

Sunday June 25: we look forward to meeting as many of you as last year for our Gran Asado Argentino, at WASPS FC.

We will send you details to buy tickets soon.

A new maestro asador will be in charge of the parrillas, and we’ll include costillares for the first time.

We need volunteers for the parrillas.

Other important tasks need to be covered in rotas: serve the food from stations, marshals, sell raffle tickets, assist with tickets at the door.

Thanks to those who already put themselves forward.

Please, write to us on info@angloargentinesociety.co.uk and mention your preference.

Volunteers for the parrillas, are the only ones who do not pay a ticket due to the full day work.

This is a day to celebrate our Argentinian traditions and share it with family and friends.

WASPS will provide some tag-rugby fun for children, and there will be folkloric music and stalls with Argentine products.

It will follow a similar format as last year, with guests bringing their own salads.
